May 15, 2019 – The Pearce Law Firm, P.C. awarded Tyler Viljaste of Gibsonia Pennsylvania the 2018 Pearce Law Firm Aspiring Pennsylvania Attorneys Scholarship. Tyler graduated in 2018 from Pine-Richland High School with and over 4.5 GPA and near the top of his class. While at Pine-Richland High School, Tyler excelled at Forensics. Tyler, along with other teammates from the renowned Pine-Richland Forensics Team took many top honors at state forensic tournaments and competitions. Tyler was named a National Merit Commended Scholar. In 2018, Tyler and two teammates from Pine-Richland made it to the top 16 teams in the Annual International Public Policy Forum. At an early age, Tyler had a passion for helping others. In his application for this scholarship, Tyler explained that becoming a lawyer will help him pursue his continuing goal of helping those who are disenfranchised and aiding others in the pursuit of justice.
Tyler just finished his freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh where he is majoring in Politics & Philosophy and Finance. The Pearce Law Firm announced Tyler as the winner on May 15, 2019. As Tyler was attending University of Pittsburgh at the time of the announcement, The Pearce Law Firm held a ceremony remotely on June 7th to present the award. The Pearce Law Firm created the $1,500 scholarship, which is awarded annually to a Pennsylvania high school senior or recent high school graduate who has been accepted to a college or university with the desire and passion to become a lawyer and attend law school following college. The scholarship was meant to encourage “aspiring attorneys” like Tyler to pursue their dream to become a lawyer after college. The applicant must be a Pennsylvania high school senior or recent Pennsylvania high school graduate with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0. The 2019 award will be announced later this fall.
