Today, September 6, 2018, a pedestrian was hit by a car near the intersection of Bristol Oxford Valley Rd & New Falls Rd in Levittown, PA.

Currently, details are scarce. An article on LevittowNow.com states that the crash occurred shortly after 1PM and that the pedestrian was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. Formerly known as Aria Torrsedale, Jefferson Torresdale is located in northeastern Philadelphia and is a Level 2 Truama Center.

Bristol Oxford Valley Rd & New Falls Rd is a tricky intersection for any driver or pedestrian. Sometimes people cross outside of crosswalks on New Falls and it can be tempting due to the lack of sidewalks. If you live in Levittown though, you’re probably aware of the fact that engineers have recently designed sidewalks for New Falls for a project approved by PennDOT.

Pedestrian Safety

When crosswalks are available, pedestrians should use them. Even if you’re injured outside of a crosswalk, you should still speak to an attorney before giving up and blaming yourself. There are many instances where a speeding, distracted or otherwise negligent driver causes accidents when they should have seen someone walking across a street, and they may still be partially liable. An insurer is never going to tell you that when they’re denying your claim.

A complete list of laws for drivers and pedestrians is available on our pedestrian accident page.

Speak to an Attorney After a Pedestrian Accident.

Pedestrian accidents often result in very serious, debilitating injuries or even death. If you were injured as a pedestrian or a loved one was killed while crossing the street and you feel that a driver may be at fault, speak to an attorney as soon as possible after the crash, regardless of what anyone or any police report says. The free advice could just save you a lot of time, affect your compensation and also affect your ability to seek medical care for injuries long into the future.

Anyone in Levittown or anywhere else in Pennsylvania or New Jersey who has been injured as a pedestrian is encouraged to contact The Pearce Law Firm, P.C. for a free consultation.
