On January 17, 2018, Winter Storm “Inga” was barrelling up the coast. Inga left the southern states buried in snow and caused blizzards and whiteouts here in Pennsylvania. With such poor visibility, accidents are bound to occur.
Tractor Trailer Crash During Blizzard in Tilden Township
One such accident involved a tractor trailer on Interstate 78 in Tilden Township. According to WFMZ, the tractor trailer approached several vehicles which stopped for the whiteout but was unable to stop in time. Either by mistake or due to good luck, the truck drove between both lanes of traffic; while several cars and trucks were smashed, there were no fatalities.
The story could have had a much different ending.
Drivers in PA, including truck drivers, should adjust their driving and maintain a safe distance and speed to allow time to stop in the event of an accident or for people stopping in a blizzard.
