Racing vehicles can be a wonderful hobby for any auto enthusiast, but street racing puts innocent people’s lives at risk. Anyone getting behind the wheel of a car has a duty of care to everyone else on the road. That duty is breached when someone recklessly races down streets at high speeds, and they can and should be held liable to any injuries they cause. Sometimes the damage done can’t be undone – when someone is killed by a reckless street racer, the only option left for families to seek justice is a wrongful death suit.
We have handled many cases involving reckless drivers and wrongful deaths. If you or a loved one was in an accident with a reckless driver regardless of if they were drunk or racing a car, contact Attorney Edith Pearce right away.
A Recent, Tragic Street Racing Crash in Philadelphia
Street racing is illegal in Philadelphia, just like it is everywhere else in the country. Anyone injured by a racing vehicle can tell you that the injuries are even more painful knowing that they shouldn’t have happened. Still, we have souped up Civics, Subaru WRXs, Mustangs and other street machines out all the time.
The most recent street racing crash took place just yesterday, August 5, 2018. According to NBC Philadelphia, witnesses claim that a 2003 Mitsubishi and a red Subaru were involved in a street race when the Mitsubishi allegedly hit a motorcycle head on. Tragically, the 45 year old biker was killed.
At the time of this article, police are still searching for the Subaru. If you have any information on this Subaru, contact police right away. It’s the right thing to do.
Contacting a Lawyer After a Street Racing Crash
If you or a loved one was injured at the hands of a negligent or reckless driver, it is important to speak to an experienced lawyer right away. Unfortunately, before the dust settles, insurers are likely already working against you to reduce their liability. This is especially true if the collision involved a death. It’s never anyone’s first thought, but it does need to be a top priority before evidence and witnesses disappear. Contact The Pearce Law Firm for a free consultation after any type of collision in Pennsylvania or New Jersey and we will advise you of options only in your best interest.
