Wrong-way drivers can put other motorists at extreme risk of severe injury. Most wrong-way driving accidents that occur involve head-on collisions. A frontal crash can double the impact in an accident because the speeds of both vehicles are transferred to the point of collision. The force can be devastating for anyone involved.

Wrong-way drivers are also hard to anticipate and the sight can shock other drivers. A safe driver may not have time to steer clear of the driver or even to hit the brakes to lessen the force of the crash.

All of these factors and more can make a driver’s mistake that much more damaging.

Wrong-Way Driver in Philadelphia Causes Multiple Accidents

A wrong-way driver caused multiple crashes in northern Philadelphia Thursday morning. CBS3-TV reported the crash happened at Broad Street and Lindley Avenue around 8:30 a.m. in the Logan neighborhood on December 10, 2020.

Police say a 68-year-old man was speeding northbound in the southbound lanes of Broad Street. The driver hit several cars head-on. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another person who was hit by the driver was also taken to the hospital.

Support for Philadelphia Wrong-Way Accident Victims

Accident victims can face many physical obstacles in recovery and tackling financial hardships shouldn’t be their concern. The costs of doctors, surgeons, and physical therapists should all fall completely on the shoulders of the at-fault driver and his or her insurance firm.

These victims aren’t to blame for the crash that led to their injuries and they shouldn’t be facing the consequences alone. Head-on collisions in wrong-way driver accidents can leave behind permanent disabilities and disfigurement. A victim may even have to adapt to an entirely new way of life.

Due to the potential of such serious outcomes, victims may file a claim for damages against the driver’s insurance coverage to get help with medical care and even reimbursement for lost time at work during their recovery. In Pennsylvania, victims have up to two years to file this civil lawsuit. 24 months can seem like plenty of time, but the longer a victim waits to file the more difficult it will be for your attorney to round-up evidence to build a solid case.
