A 64yr old woman waiting for the bus in Northeast Philadelphia was hit by a man in a truck on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Tragically, the woman was killed by the impact. The man in the truck, a white Ford F-150, fled the scene after the accident. According to 6ABC, the suspect was later arrested on Draper Street after his truck was found in a parking lot and he was headed home on foot.

After a Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Under 75 Pa.C.S. $3742, people leaving the scene of a fatal accident will receive a minimum of three years in prison. Their sentence could be much longer depending on the circumstances (Eg: Drunk Driving).

Completely separate from the criminal penalties, families who have lost loved ones in pedestrian collisions should be aware that they may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit. These lawsuits seek compensation and justice for family members left behind.
