On February 20, 2018, a SEPTA bus and a Sysco tractor trailer were involved in a wreck in Frankford. This northeastern section of Philadelphia was blocked off while various authorities investigated the accident. Thankfully, according to 6ABC, there were no fatalities, however over a dozen people were sent to the hospital.

Many of the accident victims were sent to Einstein Medical Center. EMCP has a Level I traumatic injury center where we occasionally visit clients; it’s a great hospital and one of the best places to be after sustaining a traumatic injury such as an industrial accident or truck accident.

Claims against SEPTA and/or tractor trailer companies

According to news reports, it sounds like, thankfully, there were no life threatening injuries in this accident. That is great news.

If you or a loved one ever sustains a serious injury in a SEPTA bus accident or a tractor trailer accident, there are a few things you should know:

1. Trucking companies have sophisticated insurance carriers working for them who have highly experienced attorneys representing them. You can have a highly experienced attorney representing you too. In many cases, accident victims will obtain significantly more compensation for their injuries by using a great personal injury lawyer.

2. SEPTA claims have special maximums. The Sovereign Immunity Act limits the expenses of a personal injury claim to $250,000 per person and $1 million per accident. SEPTA accident claims also have a short 6 month statute of limitations.

3. There may be more than one party responsible for your injuries. Many truck accidents and SEPTA accidents involve more than one negligent party and overlap into other types of cases. A personal injury attorney can assist you in proving this negligence and hold every responsible party accountable.
